CRAVINGS
Songs of Hunger & Satisfaction

performed by BELLE LINDA HALPERN
musical director/accompanist: Ron Roy
director/designer: Sabrina Hamilton

Hunger for food. For love. For acceptance. For fame . . . and for true nourishment!

Belle Linda halperin Star of Cravings, Songs of Hunger & Satisfaction Cabaret

CRAVINGS: Songs of Hunger & Satisfaction is a funny and thought-provoking look at our search for what feeds us.

Songs that range from Tin Pan Alley classics to pop anthems, contemporary ballads and Yiddish showstoppers are spiced with comic personal narrative reflecting Halpern’s Jewish-American culinary journey.

As she prepares the traditional Passover dish charoset, and finally serves it to the audience, Halpern’s humorous take on our constant cravings evolves to a life-affirming call to taste the sweetness in the everyday.

The Boston Globe has called Belle Linda Halpern’s work “stunning, both as music and theater” as she sensuously croons ballads, powerfully belts out the blues, and, with lightning speed and hilarity, whips out a patter song.

The Boston Herald hails her as, “Boston’s best singing actor” as she tells her story in a way that touches our stories with the music and lyrics of American and European cabaret songs.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, “Woo hoo, what a ride!”
